So now i’m trying new things in trampolining – well new to me. Since I’ve managed to do a front drop, i’m attempting a turntable – which is like a front drop spinning into another frontdrop which is harder than it sounds – a lot of the more experienced ones still have trouble getting all the way around.

When I first started trampolining, I wanted to do sumasaults – i’ve managed one at one time and it didn’t go well. I’ve been learning the basics now for a while and still can’t seem to get my body to actually do what I want it to do.

I see so many of the kids just go for it, you tell them to land in a certain way and they just seem to manage it – its quite annoying. As I seem to not be able to do things and others pick it up so simply.

Things I’d like to learn:

Sumasaults

Cat twists

Other swirly moves

I’ve been doing trampolining a while now, but still enjoy it loads and look forward to the time where I have the opertunity to actually express it while out with others not expecting it – if that ever happens – it will be fun.

So I’ve got through the first 3 weeks – Been to the gym and swimming aswell as done some things at home (Dance DVDs, stretches) and running.

I have felt quite out of breath and energy drops not so much – I’ve not changed my diet much yet but have cut down crisps to one or two bags a week (or thats the plan) instead of daily aswell as chocolate/snacks I’ve tried replacing with a seeds/nuts Mix which is suprisingly tasty.

Its been hard work and looking back doesn’t feel like I’ve done much. Its been exercise between jobs – a break in the middle of the day to do stuff and then return to job time. I think that if I keep it up then it will definetly help.

I’ve been aching a bit from the new moves, but felt when I went trampolining more in the shapes I was meant to be in for a change so may be improving my ability at the same time.

I’m quite enjoying this running althou my legs seem to ache some days – usually the lower legs just above the ankles (I can’t remember the name)

I like diversity in life so running isn’t my only way to getting fitter and training. Running is only my newest addition.

I’ve spoken to friends with the idea of this Great North Run and getting fitter and they have said I do a lot already – I don’t think so, but certainly do more than I used to.

Three years or so ago I started trampolining after a friend invited me to it. It was a bit of fun that was something I hadn’t done since probably the early 90′s.

I can only do the basics still after 3 years but enjoy it a lot. I have completed the assistant coaching for trampolining and can help others up to the same level I am now.

I’m slowly getting further with it and go to the club at least once a week, usually a wednesday night or other days through Teesside University.

Last year I started doing dancing – I tried to get others to go who wouldn’t but it looked like fun so I went for it – wishing I tried the year before as intended but backed out because no-one would go with me.

First was ball room dancing – something that is very difficult without your own partner. That lasted about 8 weeks. It was more energetic than I thought it would be but quite a lot of fun.

Next I tried salsa where as a guy, you always have the opertunity of a partner. Much faster than ballroom and a lot more fun. I’ve met a lot of people the same age as me and made a lot of new friends.

I think the dance has helped with co-ordination and stamina – Dance and Trampolining. Using these I think will help me train and enjoy it too.
